What it is
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is the central government body responsible for formulating and implementing the nation's foreign policy and external relations. Its mandate includes managing diplomatic and consular missions worldwide, representing Czech interests within international organizations such as the European Union and NATO, and protecting citizens abroad. Established in its modern form in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the ministry traces its institutional roots to 1918 and has long been headquartered in Prague's historic Černín Palace.
