What it is
The Federal Social Welfare Institutions Supervisory Board (Nadzorni odbor federalnih ustanova socijalne zaštite) is a public oversight and governance body appointed by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). Its statutory mandate is to supervise the lawful operation, material-financial performance, and administrative adherence of specialized state social welfare facilities, including residential care homes for children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities such as Pazarić, Bakovići, and Drin. Systematically restructured under the landmark FBiH Law on Social Welfare Institutions enacted in 2022, the board's modern framework was established following intense public outcry and parliamentary demands for stricter independent oversight and protection of vulnerable residents.
