What it is
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the government department responsible for designing and executing Estonia's foreign policy, managing external relations, and protecting the interests of the state and its citizens abroad. Established in 1918 following Estonia's declaration of independence, its institutional continuity was preserved throughout the Soviet occupation by foreign missions operating in exile until its re-establishment in Tallinn in 1990.
