What it is
The Government of Finland (Finnish: Valtioneuvosto) is the cabinet and executive body of the Republic of Finland, led by the Prime Minister. It directs the central state administration, drafts legislation and the national budget, and implements parliamentary decisions. Tracing its roots to the Imperial Senate formed in 1809 under Russian autonomous rule, the modern independent government was officially established in 1917 following Finland's declaration of independence.
