What it is

The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Lille (CHU de Lille) is a leading public university hospital complex located in Lille, France. Serving as the primary tertiary healthcare, medical education, and biomedical research hub for the Hauts-de-France region, its mandate encompasses specialized clinical care, medical training in partnership with the University of Lille, and public health innovation. Originating from the 1930s concept of an integrated 'Cité Hospitalière' spearheaded by surgeon Oscar Lambret, construction began in 1936 before the main hospital complex was officially inaugurated in 1953.
