What it is
The Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation is a department of the Government of Ireland responsible for managing public spending, overseeing strategic capital infrastructure delivery, and spearheading civil service reform and digital transformation. Originally established in July 2011 as the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, its responsibilities were carved out from the Department of Finance in the aftermath of the post-2008 Irish financial crisis. The department subsequently underwent portfolio expansions and renamings to incorporate national infrastructure and digitalisation oversight.
