Druskininkai Municipal Councillocal

Lithuania · founded 2000

What it is

The Druskininkai Municipal Council (Druskininkų savivaldybės taryba) is the representative local self-government authority of Druskininkai Municipality in southern Lithuania. Composed of 25 democratically elected members including the municipal mayor, it is responsible for enacting local regulations, approving the municipal budget, and overseeing public infrastructure and socioeconomic development. While early local self-governance existed in the interwar era and was restored following Lithuania's independence in 1990, the modern council was established in 2000 during nationwide administrative reforms that consolidated the historic resort town with surrounding rural territories.
