The Environmental Protection Agency of Montenegro (Agencija za zaštitu životne sredine) is the national executive body responsible for environmental and nature conservation. Its mandate includes environmental monitoring, carrying out environmental impact assessments, issuing permits, and maintaining ecological records across the country. Established by a government decree in November 2008, the agency formally commenced operations in March 2009 as part of Montenegro's efforts to harmonize its policies with European Union environmental standards.
