What it is
The Parliament of Montenegro is the unicameral legislative body of Montenegro, comprising 81 members elected by proportional representation. It is responsible for passing laws, approving international treaties, electing the Prime Minister and government, and adopting the state budget. Originating from the National Assembly established under the 1905 Constitution of the Principality of Montenegro, it was dissolved in 1918 upon integration into Yugoslavia and later re-established in 1944. On June 3, 2006, following a nationwide referendum, the Parliament officially proclaimed Montenegro's restored independence.
