What it is
The Advisory Council for Safety Groningen (Adviescollege Veiligheid Groningen) is an independent governmental advisory body in the Netherlands. Its mandate is to provide expert technical and policy advice to Dutch government ministers and parliament regarding the structural safety of buildings and the reinforcement operation in the earthquake-affected Groningen region. It was initially established by ministerial decree in 2019 following severe earthquakes caused by decades of natural gas extraction. Its legal status was later permanently anchored in national legislation under the Groningen Act (Tijdelijke wet Groningen).
