What it is
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security is a Norwegian government ministry responsible for justice, law enforcement, correctional services, and national civil emergency preparedness. Established in 1818 as the Royal Ministry of Justice and the Police, it is one of Norway's oldest ministries. It adopted its current name in 2012 to place greater emphasis on emergency management and homeland security following the 2011 Oslo government quarter bombing that damaged its headquarters.
