What it is

The 235th Garrison Military Court is a specialized federal court of first instance located in Moscow within Russia's military judiciary system. It is mandated to adjudicate criminal, civil, and administrative cases involving servicemen and defense agencies, frequently handling high-profile corruption and abuse-of-power trials involving senior military officers and generals. Established in 1987 as the 235th Military Tribunal of Long-Range Aviation under the Soviet Armed Forces, it was reorganized and received its current designation in 1999 following Russian federal judicial reforms.
