What it is

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (Više javno tužilaštvo) is a key level of the judicial prosecution system in the Republic of Serbia, operating alongside the network of Higher Courts. Its mandate is to prosecute perpetrators of serious criminal offenses punishable by more than ten years of imprisonment, handle juvenile delinquency cases, and oversee specialized anti-corruption and organized crime departments. Established under the Law on Public Prosecution enacted in 2008 and operationalized on January 1, 2010, it succeeded the former District Public Prosecutor's Offices as part of a comprehensive reform to modernize Serbia's judiciary.
