What it is
The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia (Narodna skupština Republike Srbije) is the supreme representative body and unicameral parliament of the Republic of Serbia, comprising 250 deputies elected by proportional representation. Its constitutional mandate is to enact legislation, amend the Constitution, elect and oversee the Government, approve the state budget, and confirm judicial and constitutional appointments. While established as a formal representative institution on October 28, 1858, following the historic St. Andrew's Day Assembly in the Principality of Serbia, it was re-established in its modern multi-party democratic form under the 1990 Constitution.
