What it is
The Republic Electoral Commission (Republička izborna komisija - RIK) is the central, independent election management body of the Republic of Serbia, operating under the National Assembly. Its statutory mandate is to organize, conduct, and supervise parliamentary, presidential, and national referendum voting, register candidates and electoral lists, determine official election results, and handle election-related complaints. Established in 1990 alongside the adoption of Serbia's multi-party constitution, the commission oversaw the country's first democratic multiparty elections in December 1990 and has since served as the institutional anchor for national electoral administration.
