What it is
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is the central executive body responsible for developing and implementing state policy in healthcare, public health, and medical education in Ukraine. Tracing its institutional origins to the People's Commissariat of Health of the Ukrainian SSR, it was reconstituted in its current form following Ukraine's independence in 1991. In recent years, the ministry has spearheaded sweeping healthcare financing reforms to transition from a Soviet-era model to modern medical insurance and universal care standards.
