What it is
The Ministry of Finance is a government ministry in Finland responsible for preparing the state budget, formulating fiscal and economic policy, and steering public administration. Tracing its origins to the Financial Affairs Department of the Governing Council established in 1809 during the Grand Duchy era, it is one of the country's oldest ministries. Following Finland's independence, the department was formally reconstituted as a ministry under the Council of State in 1918.
