What it is
The Hellenic Parliament is the unicameral supreme legislative body of the Hellenic Republic. Composed of 300 deputies elected by universal suffrage, it is tasked with passing national legislation, approving government budgets, and exercising parliamentary scrutiny over the executive. Originally established following the 3 September 1843 Revolution which produced Greece's first monarchical constitution, it is permanently housed in the Old Royal Palace overlooking Syntagma Square in central Athens.
