What it is

The Ministry of Industries (Icelandic: Atvinnuvegaráðuneytið) is a cabinet-level government department of Iceland responsible for administering key economic sectors, including agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, food safety, trade, tourism, and industrial affairs. It was formally established in 2012 through the consolidation of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism with the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture and parts of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Its primary predecessor, the standalone Ministry of Industry, had originally operated in the Icelandic government since 1970.
