What it is
The World Health Organization Executive Board is one of the primary governing bodies of the WHO, composed of 34 technically qualified health experts designated by elected Member States. Its mandate is to give effect to the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly, prepare its agenda, provide advice, and nominate the WHO Director-General. Established under the WHO Constitution, which entered into force in 1948, the Board convened for its first session in Geneva that same year.
