What it is
The Baltic Assembly is a regional inter-parliamentary cooperation organization comprising parliamentarians from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, with its permanent secretariat located in Riga, Latvia. Established on November 8, 1991, following the restoration of the three nations' independence from the Soviet Union, it serves as a consultative and coordinating body that harmonizes legislation and policy on shared security, economic, and cultural interests. Historically, the Assembly played a vital role in post-Soviet regional cooperation and helped steer the Baltic states toward integration into the European Union and NATO in 2004.
