What it is
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania is a central government body responsible for formulating and implementing national policy across road, rail, air, and maritime transport, as well as postal and electronic communications infrastructure. Originally established in November 1918 following Lithuania's declaration of independence, it played a vital role in organizing the newly independent state's transport networks and postal services. After being dissolved during the Soviet occupation in 1940, the ministry was officially re-established in March 1990 following the restoration of Lithuanian independence.
