What it is
The Chapter of the Order of Polonia Restituta is an official collegial body in Poland tasked with safeguarding the dignity and prestige of the country's second-highest civilian honor. Chaired ex officio by the President of the Republic of Poland as Grand Master, its mandate includes reviewing nominations, proposing recipients, and assessing requests to strip decorations. Originally established on August 2, 1921, following Poland's regaining of independence, the Chapter was formally restored in the post-communist Third Republic in 1995.
