What it is
The Government of Romania is the executive branch of the Romanian state, headed by the Prime Minister alongside a cabinet of ministers. It is responsible for directing domestic and foreign policy, overseeing public administration, and executing legislation enacted by Parliament. The first unified Romanian government was established in 1862 following the union of Moldavia and Wallachia under Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, led by Barbu Catargiu. Its contemporary democratic structure was formally re-established under the 1991 Constitution following the fall of the communist regime.
