What it is
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is a central government body of Romania responsible for developing national transport policy, managing state transport infrastructure, and regulating road, railway, maritime, and aviation networks. Its institutional roots trace back to January 1862 when the Ministry of Public Works was established following the unification of the Romanian Principalities. In 1880, the Princely Directorate of Romanian Railways was created under its umbrella to administer the country's expanding rail network.
