Prefect's Institution of Alba CountyGovernment

The Prefect's Institution of Alba County is a public administration body representing the Romanian Government at the county level. Headquartered in Alba Iulia, its mandate is to ensure the enforcement of national laws, verify the legality of administrative acts issued by local authorities, and coordinate decentralized ministerial and state services. While the post of Romanian prefect in Alba was initially established following the 1918 Great Union before being abolished under communist rule, the modern institution was re-established in 1990 following the Romanian Revolution.
