What it is
The Prefect's Institution of Cluj County represents the Romanian central government at the territorial level in Cluj County. Its primary mandate is to supervise the legality of acts issued by local administrative authorities, coordinate deconcentrated ministerial public services, and manage emergency situations and civil protection. Originally integrated into the unified Romanian administrative system in 1926 following the union of Transylvania with Romania, the modern institution was re-established after the 1989 Revolution and has operated out of Cluj-Napoca's historic 1910 Administrative Palace since 1992.
