Prefect's Institution of Maramureș CountyGovernment

The Prefect's Institution of Maramureș County is the territorial administrative body representing the Romanian Government at the county level. Its primary mandate is to oversee the lawful functioning of local public administration, coordinate deconcentrated ministerial services, and manage emergency situations. The institution was first established in April 1919 following the union of Transylvania with Romania, with Vasile Chiroiu appointed as its first prefect.
