What it is
The Federal Office for Defence Procurement (armasuisse) is the Swiss federal agency responsible for procuring complex defense systems, military equipment, science and technology, and managing military real estate for the Swiss Armed Forces. It acts as the central procurement competence center under the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS). Its origins stem from structural reforms following the 1964 Mirage Affair, which created the Armament Services Group, before being officially reorganized and rebranded into its modern form as armasuisse in 2003.
