Directorate General of State Opera and BalletGovernment

The Directorate General of State Opera and Ballet is the national directorate in Turkey responsible for producing, developing, and disseminating opera and ballet performances across the country. Operating under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, its mandate is to advance performing arts and manage regional opera and ballet companies. Tracing its origins to early Republican arts initiatives and the establishment of the State Theatre in the late 1940s, it was formally established as an independent central directorate in 1970 under Law No. 1309.
