Turkiye

What it is

The Ministry of National Education is the central government body overseeing the public and private pre-tertiary education system in Türkiye. It is responsible for setting national curricula, administering primary and secondary schools, managing non-formal education programs, and employing teachers across the country. Tracing roots to the Ottoman education ministry founded in 1857, the modern ministry was established by the Grand National Assembly in Ankara in May 1920 and served as the primary vehicle for Atatürk's seminal educational and Latin alphabet reforms in the 1920s and 1930s.
