What it is
The Ministry of Trade is a cabinet-level government agency in Turkey responsible for regulating domestic commerce, directing foreign trade policy, and overseeing customs enforcement. Traceable to the Ottoman Ministry of Trade and Agriculture established in 1839, the modern administrative framework evolved through various republican reorganizations, including the Ministry of Customs and Monopoly formed in 1931. The present institution was formally re-established in 2011 as the Ministry of Customs and Trade before merging with the Ministry of Economy in 2018 under its current title.
