What it is
The National Lottery Administration (Millî Piyango İdaresi - MPİ) is a Turkish state institution affiliated with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance responsible for monitoring and supervising national lottery games, raffles, and authorized gaming activities. Its statutory mandate is to regulate games of chance, authorize prize draws, combat illegal gambling, and ensure public revenues generated from gaming support state welfare and social services. Tracing its origins to aviation lottery draws organized by the Tayyare Cemiyeti in 1926, it was officially established in its modern form on July 5, 1939, by Law No. 3670, and later transitioned primarily to a regulatory and licensing authority after the operational rights of the national lottery were privatized to Sisal Şans in 2020.
