General Directorate of TaxesGovernment

The General Directorate of Taxes (Drejtoria e Përgjithshme e Tatimeve - DPT) is the central state revenue agency of the Republic of Albania, operating under the Ministry of Finance. Its statutory mandate is to administer the national tax system, enforce tax compliance, collect direct and indirect revenues (including VAT, income tax, and excise duties), and combat tax evasion and the informal economy. Established in January 1992 through Law No. 7546, it was founded as part of post-communist economic restructuring to create an independent, modern market-oriented fiscal administration, subsequently spearheading comprehensive digitalization through the nationwide electronic fiscalization system launched in 2021.
