The Government of Albania represents the executive branch of the Republic of Albania, headed by the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers. Its primary constitutional role is to administer public policy, enforce legislation passed by Parliament, oversee state administration, and direct internal and external affairs. The modern governmental structure was first established following the Albanian Declaration of Independence in 1912 under Ismail Qemali, later transitioning from communist rule to a democratic, pluralist parliamentary republic in 1991.
