What it is
The Presidential Chancellery (Präsidentschaftskanzlei) is the administrative and executive office that supports the Federal President of Austria. It assists the head of state in executing constitutional duties, overseeing state appointments, and handling diplomatic relations and official protocol. Established in 1920 under the Federal Constitutional Law, the chancellery was dissolved during the 1938 Anschluss and re-established following the restoration of Austrian independence in 1945. In 1946, it relocated to its permanent headquarters in the Leopoldine Wing of the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna.
