What it is
The State Government of Upper Austria (Oberösterreichische Landesregierung) is the collegiate executive authority responsible for administering the Austrian federal state of Upper Austria. Headed by the Landeshauptmann (state governor), it implements regional legislation and oversees public administration, healthcare, regional infrastructure, and education. Established in its modern democratic form in November 1918 following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, its federal self-governing structures were dissolved during the Nazi era and subsequently re-established in 1945 under the Second Republic.
