What it is
The Vienna International Centre (VIC), colloquially known as UNO-City, is one of the four global headquarters of the United Nations, located in Vienna, Austria. It serves as a major multilateral hub hosting organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to advance global security, non-proliferation, and sustainable development. Designed by Austrian architect Johann Staber, the complex was officially inaugurated on August 23, 1979, following an initiative by the Austrian government to lease the facility to the UN for a symbolic nominal rent.
