What it is
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus is the primary executive government agency responsible for managing the nation's foreign relations. Its mandate includes implementing foreign policy, supervising diplomatic and consular missions worldwide, negotiating international agreements, and advancing Belarusian economic and political interests abroad. While its institutional lineage traces back to the 1919 Commissariat for Foreign Affairs and the Byelorussian SSR becoming a founding member of the United Nations in 1945, the modern ministry was formally established in 1991 following Belarusian independence.
