What it is

The Minsk City Court is a regional-level judicial body in Belarus that serves the capital city of Minsk. Operating directly below the Supreme Court, it functions primarily as an appellate body reviewing decisions from Minsk's district courts and hears certain major civil, criminal, and administrative matters as a court of first instance. It was established on December 25, 1978, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR, granting it powers equivalent to an oblast-level regional court.
