What it is
The State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus is the country's supreme state audit and financial oversight institution, operating under the direct authority of the President. Its primary mandate is to monitor national budget execution, supervise the lawful management of state property, and investigate economic crimes, tax evasion, and corruption. Established in 1996 following constitutional reforms that abolished the former parliamentary Control Chamber, the agency traces its institutional lineage back to Soviet-era state inspection bodies.
