What it is
The FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister is the primary civil service administration supporting the head of the Belgian federal government. Its role is to provide operational, legal, and logistical coordination for the Council of Ministers, assist the Prime Minister in steering coalition policy across regional and federal entities, and manage official government communications. Established formally following World War I by royal decree in November 1918, the department was restructured into a Federal Public Service in 2001 under the nationwide Copernicus administrative reforms.
