The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus is the ministerial cabinet department tasked with safeguarding the nation's independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. It oversees the Cyprus National Guard, formulates national defense policy, and coordinates international security cooperation. Established in 1960 upon the island's independence from the United Kingdom, its portfolio was merged with the Ministry of the Interior between 1964 and 1985 before being restored as a standalone ministry.
