What it is
The General Directorate of Water Management (Hungarian: Országos Vízügyi Főigazgatóság, OVF) is Hungary's central government body responsible for national water governance, flood protection, river basin management, and water resource monitoring. Operating under ministerial oversight, the agency directs and coordinates twelve regional water management directorates across the country. The unified directorate was originally established in October 1953 to centralize state water administration, and it was reconstituted in its current organizational framework in 2012.
