What it is
The Government of Hungary is the principal executive body of Hungary, headed by the Prime Minister and tasked with formulating national policy, overseeing state administration, and enforcing laws. Established in its modern constitutional form following the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, the nation's first responsible parliamentary government was led by Prime Minister Lajos Batthyány. After decades of communist one-party rule, democratic parliamentary governance was formally restored with the proclamation of the Third Hungarian Republic in 1989.
