What it is
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Külgazdasági és Külügyminisztérium) is the executive department of the Hungarian government responsible for conducting the nation's foreign policy and international economic relations. Its mandate encompasses diplomacy, international development, consular services, and promoting external trade and investment. Although independent Hungarian foreign affairs governance traces back to the revolutionary government of 1848, the portfolio officially adopted its current structure in 2014 when foreign trade responsibilities were formally integrated into the foreign ministry.
