What it is
MOL Group (Magyar Olaj- és Gázipari Nyrt.) is a leading Hungarian multinational integrated oil and gas corporation headquartered in Budapest. Its core operations encompass oil and natural gas exploration and production, refining, petrochemical manufacturing, pipeline transportation, and service station retail networks across Central and Eastern Europe. Formed in 1991 through the merger of nine state-owned petroleum enterprises belonging to the National Oil and Gas Trust (OKGT), the company was privatized in stages during the 1990s and later grew into a major regional conglomerate through strategic cross-border acquisitions, including Slovakia's Slovnaft and Croatia's INA.
