What it is
The Siracusa Municipal Board (Giunta Comunale di Siracusa) is the collegiate executive governing body of the municipality of Syracuse in Sicily, Italy. Presided over by the mayor and composed of appointed deputy assessors (assessori), it is responsible for implementing municipal policies, managing administrative services, and preparing the city's annual budget and development programs. Modern municipal governance in Siracusa was formally organized under unified Italian law in 1865 following the unification of Italy, transitioning from ancient patrician senate structures. After being temporarily suppressed and replaced by a state-appointed podestà under the Fascist regime in 1926, the board was restored as a democratic executive body in 1946.
