What it is
The Chamber of Deputies (Chambre des Députés) is the unicameral national parliament of Luxembourg. It holds legislative authority, voting on national laws and the state budget while exercising political oversight over the government. Established under the liberal Constitution of 1848, it replaced the earlier consultative Assembly of the States and introduced public parliamentary debates. A major milestone occurred in 1919 when universal suffrage and proportional representation were introduced, fundamentally democratizing the institution.
