Luxembourg · founded 1890
What it is
The Cour grand-ducale (Grand Ducal Court) is the official household and administrative institution supporting the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, the nation's constitutional head of state. It coordinates the monarch's public engagements, state ceremonies, and administrative affairs while facilitating the sovereign's constitutional role in representing national unity and exercising executive functions. Established as an independent national court in 1890 following the end of Luxembourg's personal union with the Netherlands, it has since operated from the historic Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City.
